Welcome to the Social Relations Lab at Mississippi State University.

We conduct research on how to improve social relations.  This means we conduct studies on a wide array of topics, including the ones listed below.  If it can help improve positive interpersonal interactions and decrease negative relations, we are interested.  If you are interested in research on interpersonal relationships, social influence, intergroup attitudes, or interpersonal aggression, you have come to the right place.

Here are some topics we have addressed in the past:

  • When does rejection lead to aggression?
  • How do friends provide advice to one another regarding romantic relationships?
  • Is there a crisis in replicability in the social sciences?
  • How do implicit attitudes towards race affect choices in online dating?
  • How can we prevent intimate aggression?
  • How do individuals in socially disapproved relationships make attributions for their relationship outcomes?
  • What do people think about their romantic partner having an ex for a friend?
  • Can we replicate the original Romeo and Juliet effect study?
And many more...
